Why Does My Weed Eater Line Break
What is worse than having to toil through hard yard work is having to toil with the question of “why does my weed eater line break?” It is worse enough to already have to deal with a less than favorable task only to be dealt another annoyance on top of that. So, in the hopes of making your yard work a little less stressful we have decided to put together some helpful hints on what you can try in order to figure out why your weed eater line continues to break on you.
One of the leading reasons as to why a weed eater line may be breaking too often is because the guide on your weed eater may be crooked. If your guide is crooked our out of alignment then that will cause the line to continuously hit. And while weed eater lines are designed to help you cut through a variety of overgrowth and weeds, they are not designed to stand up to harder objects. The line will fray and break often if it continues to hit the guide.
Another common reason as to why your line may be breaking frequently is because you might be using the wrong thickness of line for the materials you are attempting to cut. If you are trying to cut thicker materials such as shrubs or certain types of overgrowth then you may want to consider getting a stainless steel double edged blade attachment for your machine as this will help you power through a much greater range of thicknesses.
In addition, your line may be breaking if you are too close to an object you are cutting around. Again, these nylon strings are not designed for hard impact and will often split, fray and break if you continuously hit hard objects with them. Also, breaking may occur if the ends are getting too thin. You will need to snip the frayed parts until you reach a spot in your spool that features untouched cord or nylon.
Finally, it is extremely important for you to realize that you should never ever attempt to fix your weed eater or adjust or replace the string on it unless it is completely turned off (gas models) or completely unplugged (electric models). And to help you to be extra sure that your machine is completely powered down you should first try to press the corresponding button to make the head spin just to be sure that it does not before you put your hands or face near the head, strings or blades. And even when your machine is completely powered off you should still wear goggles and hand protection.
