How To Replace String On A Weed Eater
Working on your lawn or in your garden can be a very relaxing way to spend an afternoon. You are outside, the sun is shining, the birds are singing, and you are having a very pleasant time. You put away your lawn mower and pull out your weed eater to put the finishing touches on your freshly mowed lawn, when you notice that the string on your weed eater has become detached. This does not have to ruin your day, however, because this is a relatively simple problem to rectify. If you have saved the instructions for your weed eater, check to see if string replacement directions are included. If that information is not included, or if your operating manual has been misplaced, it is not difficult to figure out how to replace the string on a weed eater.
In preparing to restring your weed eater, you should first press the lock and rotate the spool counter clockwise. If your weed eater has one, you should also remove the locking ring. Next take off the weed eater’s automatic feed button. The next step is to clear away any debris with a clean rag. Once the debris has been wiped away, you can push down on the spool to release the locking tabs. Doing this will allow you to remove the spool from your weed eater’s chamber.
You are now ready to restring your weed eater. The first step is to feed the new string into the lower deck. Travel the string J fashion similar to sewing on a button. This will secure the internal end of the replacement string. Next, wrap the string according to the direction arrows on your weed eater until it wraps to the depth of the chamber. Once this has been completed secure each of the strings into its own upper and lower deck groove settings. You can now install the spool back into the chamber. Once the spool is back in the chamber, pass the strings through the left and right holes and snap the spool properly in place. Next pull both ends of the string simultaneously. The string should now be correctly installed in your weed eater and the only remaining step is to reinstall the locking ring if necessary.
If you have completed the above instructions, and the string on your weed eater is still not functioning properly or continues to become unraveled, you may wish to take your weed eater to an authorized repair center for assistance.
